If you’re drawn to the gentle temperament and softness of a lamb, I might be the dog for you. I’m more mellow than other terrier breeds and have a distinctive fluffy profile that gives me a lamb’s appearance. I will need to be combed weekly and require professional trimming to maintain my unique curly facial features. As puppies we’re born darker and over time lighten to standard colors of blue, sandy, liver, blue and tan, sandy and tan, and liver and tan.
I’m a very loyal, playful companion who’s friendly to strangers and other pets, though I may fall on my terrier instincts to chase small animals outdoors. I am smart, which makes training me easy. I’m a quiet charmer well suited to be a house dog but will become brave and alert when aroused. I do need daily exercise to burn off my need to run. Take note that I’m a sprinter with long endurance! I enjoy attention and love to entertain with my clownish antics.
My crown of fur can make me seem large, but I’m actually a medium-sized dog—weighing 17 to 23 pounds and standing a little over 16 inches tall. I live a long life of 12 to 14 years and am generally healthy. One major concern is copper toxicosis, an inherited disease that can lead to hepatitis and cirrhosis of the liver. Minor health issues include retinal dysplasia, renal cortical hypoplasia, and distichiasis.
