Toy Fox Terrier
Looking for a true terrier in a tiny package? I pack a lot of energy and personality into my 3 to 7 pound, 9 to 11 inch frame. I’m a feisty friend who loves affection and needs to be wherever you are. Loyal to family, I will bark to protect them—and for many other reasons. I’m not good with strangers or kids, who can innocently cause me harm. I will also challenge other dogs, regardless of size or risk.
Housetraining is easy, and I can even use a litter box. A cozy apartment is ideal for me, but I do need a chance to burn off excess energy—or I may chew up your favorite shoes. I will chase small outdoor animals and won’t appreciate your pet hamster. Some lively indoor games or a brisk short walk will keep me exercised and entertained and help reduce mischief. And please remember to throw a sweater on me in cold weather! New dog owners might find me a lot to handle due to my go-go nature.
My coloring is mostly white with different variations of tan, black, or chocolate markings. The coat is short, smooth, and sleek, and I have large, bat-like ears. I don’t shed much, so a quick weekly brushing will control any loose hair.
I’m a long-lived breed at 13 to 14 years, and count on my being active the entire time. Possible health problems to watch for include demodectic mange, kneecap luxation, Legg-Perthes joint degeneration, vWD, and hypothyroidism.
