If you’re set on one of the Belgian sheepdog breeds, I’m considered the most elegant. Like any herd dog I’m alert and energetic—and can nip at the feet of running children. I love to run and play and will do best with an active family. Given ample exercise I’m well behaved in the house. Take me on a brisk walk or jog every day, or provide an opportunity for vigorous work or play.
Smart and versatile, I’m a good match for people who enjoy training dogs. I can be seen doing police or search-and-rescue work or assisting people with disabilities. I’m self-assured and love to learn new things!
Tervs don’t have a one-size-fits-all personality; some of us might be lively and quirky while others can be quiet and serious. Regardless, we’re devoted to family, crave attention, and hate being left alone. We can get possessive of family members around strangers.
My dense coat easily adapts to the weather but does require twice weekly brushing to avoid mats and tangles. I do shed all year—and note that I’m prone to drooling. Coloring can range from fawn to russet mahogany with black-tipped hairs. On average I’m 22 to 26 inches tall and weigh 60 to 65 pounds.
I have an average life span of 10 to 12 years and am generally healthy. Epilepsy and skin allergies are slight areas of health concern, and occasionally I can develop hip and elbow dysplasia, cataracts and other eye disease, or thyroid problems.
