Looking for a pet who just knows when you need a cuddle? One of my defining traits is being highly sensitive to people’s moods, which makes me an excellent therapy dog. I’m not considered a true terrier, so I’m not as wiry—or wired up—as my distant cousins. I do, however, have a knack for mischief and will bark. I’m gentle, affectionate, and loyal, though I’m reserved among strangers.
I’m very bright and easy to train—and my alert nature makes me a good watchdog. I do like to run and discover new things, so a brisk long walk every day will keep me happy and well exercised. Obedience and agility courses and challenging games are also enjoyable; I just like to have fun with people! I’m quite adaptable to different weather and living situations.
I’m athletic and agile at 20 to 24 pounds and 15 to 16 inches tall. My coat may be white, gold, tricolor, brindle (subtle striping), silver, or black, in various patterns. The coarse hair may be straight or wavy; it falls heavily over my eyes and face to protect me from harsh Tibetan weather. Brushing should be done a few times a week to avoid tangles—and more frequently when I’m young or during shedding periods. Monthly baths will keep me clean. A close-clipped coat will require less maintenance.
I’m a hardy and healthy dog that will retain my childlike qualities and love of life for 12 to 16 years. Potential health issues include kneecap luxation, hip dysplasia, eye problems, and NCL (lysosomal storage disorders that cause progressive loss of mental and physical nervous system function).
